We love it here on Big Board Sports when our local baseball guys are succeeding in the major leagues.  Between Tommy Kahnle from Shaker on the Dodgers, Jeff Hoffman from Shaker on the Reds, Kevin Smith from Columbia on the A's, and Ian Anderson from Shen on the Braves, there are plenty of local guys doing really well so far in their young Major League Baseball careers.  One particular standout in 2022 has been Jeff Hoffman.  He has been outstanding in his new bullpen role and has been really efficient in getting outs and not giving up a lot of runs.  Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

Shaker grad Jeff Hoffman is having a good season so far, on a bad Cincinnati Reds team. Hoffman has settled into a bullpen role, and with a glossy ERA of 1.59 he might land with a different team at the trading deadline. Hoffmann was cruising right along as a starter last season for the Reds, until he missed time because of an injury. He’s got nasty stuff, he just needs to cut down on his walks. If he can limit those free passes, Hoffman can help a team in the postseason. It just won’t be in Cincinnati, certainly not this season.

MJ and I talked about Jeff Hoffman back on Tuesday of this week after he pitched two shutout innings on Monday coming out of the bullpen.  Below is our discussion on this.

I hope Hoffman gets a change of scenery real soon because the Cincinnati Reds are having an awful season.  I hope Hoffman continues to dominate out of the bullpen for the rest of the season.
