Did Aaron Judge Make A Mistake Not Signing The Yankees Contract?

I am still very surprised that Aaron Judge did not take that 7 year $213 million deal offered to him by the New York Yankees.  During Monday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays at Yankee Stadium, Judge was getting booed loudly after he struck out.  There are multiple factors on why the fans were booing however.  The Yankees were losing at the time and you also always hear boos when the team isn't playing well or someone strikes out.  That is just how it is in the Bronx.  New York is a tough place to play and always will be.  The media can be brutal too.  Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

If there is one player who gets the behavior of New York fans, it’s Aaron Judge. The Yankees offered Judge a contract that will pay him around 30 million per year and when he turned it down, it opened the door for Yankee fans to boo. When Judge struggles at the plate which he will do multiple times over the long season, he might hear it from a few disgruntled Yankee fans who can’t understand why Judge would turn down that kind of money. Judge feels he can get more money when this season is over and he walks into free agency, and he might not be wrong. But Yankee fans are not wrong either. It’s New York, and Judge understands.
