Former Shenendehowa basketball stand out and current Maryland Terrapin Kevin Huerter has been selected as a finalist for the Team USA U19 team. Huerter played on the U18 team last year and is one of the eighteen finalist competing for a spot on this year's team. The final tweleve person roster will be announced later today. This year's U19 team is being coached by Kentucky's John Calipari. Calipari, a Naismaith Basketball Hall of Famer, had some high praise for the former 518 area product.


“I think we’ve got a good group of finalists. We’re pretty long and athletic, “It looks like we’re going to be somewhat positionless and we’re going to have some 6-8 guys that can play point guard, bring it up and make plays.”

In his freshman season for Maryland, Huerter started in all thrity three games averaging 9.3 points and 4.9 rebounds. Check back with 1045 The Team later today to see if Huerter made the final roster.
