The New York Yankees have very high expectations for their 2023 season.  One of the major reasons is that their bullpen will be even better than last year.  Several players will be returning from injury such as Chad Green and Michael King.  They let Aroldis Chapman go and Clay Holmes will now presumably be the full time closer for them moving forward.  Most importantly, they signed back Shaker high school product and local guy Tommy Kahnle back with the Pinstripes.  Kahnle was a major part of their deep postseason runs in 2017 and 2019.  He brings a lot of fire and passion and throws really hard with some good off speed pitches.  However, injuries tend to be a concern for him.  Below is my quick take on this from The Times Union:

Let's hope the biceps injury to Shaker grad Tommy Kahnle doesn't sideline him too long. The New York Yankees are counting on him to be a big part of the bullpen this season, but unfortunately injuries always seem to get in the way. When healthy Kahnle is among the best in the game, but staying on the field has been an issue throughout his career.

MJ and I discussed this injury and the Yankees in 2023 earlier this morning right here on Big Board Sports.  Below is our full conversation on this.

Kahnle is set to miss only 10 days on the injured list with tendinitis and you really hope it is not significant or long term.  Kahnle needs to be a major piece of this bullpen to help make these Yankees dangerous during both the regular and postseason.  They will try to get to their first World Series in 14 years.

Ten Problems Will Keep the NY Yankees from Winning it All in '23

The New York Yankees will compete for a World Series in 2023, but they are not a perfect team, and these issues will still loom large throughout this season.
