Join The New York Mets Exclusive Fan Club! It’s Only $25,000
Well, at least we know how New York Mets owner Steve Cohen plans to pay for his luxury tax laden player payroll. The Queens based team announced on Tuesday that a new, exclusive speakeasy is available to fans in the right-field corner.
The construction of the club area was simultaneous with the assembly of the Mets' enormous new scoreboard that the team tested on Tuesday afternoon and teased to fans on Twitter. However, if you are in this new, exclusive club area, you certainly won't be looking at the scoreboard.
Club members will be perched directly behind the right-fielder, literally, and there wont be many people with you. According to ESPN.com, there will be only 25 to 30 memberships available in total for the area. Mets spokesperson, Katie Agostin told ESPN.com that memberships in the first row will cost $24,999 per seat. Don't get out your checkbook, the first two rows are already sold out but there are still some at a clearance price of $19,000 per seat. As you may expect, the amenities are plentiful for the few that will get to enjoy them.
There will be a total of 100 seats available. Members will be "entitled" to buy guest passes to the Cadillac Club at Payson's, the latter named in honor of founding owner of the Amazin's, Joan Whitney Payson. The club is climate controlled. That is perfect for those April, September and hopefully October games. It gets cold.
The Cadillac Club includes a private bar with amazing field views. Food, wine, beer and soft drinks are included but they make you pay for premium cocktails. You only get so much for $25,000 these days. The club features lounge seats, flat-screen televisions, in-seat storage and personal beverage coolers. An in-stadium concierge is provided. Sounds like a deal to me. You can go to mets.com for more details.
