So let me see if I have this straight. The LA Clippers  the Memphis Grizzlies,nd the Denver Nuggets notorious losing franchises for the most part  have nice success this year to some degree and yet  fire their coaches for all intents and purposes. And you wonder why these teams can't win on a consistent basis.

George Karl was basically fired in Denver after winning 56 games with an outmanned and out sized lineup for the most part. Reward-A pink slip.

The Clippers, after years on inept and worse play get to the post season for a 2nd straight year which is a miracle in Clipper land and yet Vinny Del Negro gets the pink slip. Nice reward.

Now it is Lionel Hollins in Memphis. the Grizz made it all the way to the western conference finals, after trading their 2nd leading scorer, that being Rudy Gay, to Toronto, yet Hollins contract isn't renewed by the Grizz. Reward- see ya Hollins. Is it any wonder fans sound like lunatics when after every loss the usual cry is " it's the coaches fault-fire the coach."

None of these moves makes any sense to me frankly. The Grizz move perhaps the worst of all. Make it to the final 4 of the NBA and get whacked, or in this case not renewed. Gotta shake my head.

On the other side Maurice Cheeks is back as bench leader, this time in Detroit. Cheeks was a fine point guard in his day, helping the Philadelphia 76ers to the title with Doctor J,  and Moses Malone. Cheeks already has served as a head coach with the 76ers and the Portland Trailblazers. He was ousted in the 1st round of the playoffs 3 times in 6 years as coach of those 2 franchises. Cheeks has been in Oklahoma City as an assistant the past 4 years.
