If you were in a bakery turnovers are a good thing. if you are in a basketball game turnovers are killer. Led by sloppy play UAbany played give away early and lost a huge conference game at Maine 66-52 thus just about eliminating them from contending for the regular season league title.

The Black Bears bolted out to a 31-18 lead at the break and never looked back.

The Black Bears got a complete team effort, including their bench. Justin Edwards led the Bears with 16. Zarko Viljarevic had 13. Alasdair Frasier 11 and John McAllian 10 off the bench to lead Maine.

At 1 point not long ago UAlbany led the conference but have stumbled as they now trail 1st place Stony Brook by 2.5 games with 5 regular season games left. They close the season with Stony Brook on the road.

Speaking of the road it was kind for UAlbany until Saturday's game at Maine. The loss snapped a 4 game road winning streak for the Danes.

Sam Rowley was a demon in the loss for the Great Danes with a team high 19 points and 15 boards. Mike Black chipped in 15. But that was it for production for the most part for UAlbany. No one else scored in double digits. In fact Peter Hooley's 6 points was 3rd best. UA did have 18 turnovers, not of the cherry or apple variety.

The Great Danes trail Hartford and Boston who are both tied for 3rd place with a 7-4 conference record. UAlbany is 5th, half game back at 7-5
