The UAlbany men's basketball team is out to its best start in America East history after improving to 6-0 in league play on Thursday night.

The Danes topped Hartford, 62-53, to move to 11-7 overall. With a Vermont loss against New Hampshire, the Danes are now in sole possession of first place in the America East.

Playing their second straight game without star guard Peter Hooley, the Danes got 22 points and eight rebounds from Sam Rowley.

Rowley was the only Dane in double-figures, but seven UAlbany players found the box score in all.

UAlbany was aided in a big way by their success at the foul line (19-21, 91 percent). That played an important role in the game because the Danes were just 1-11 from three-point range.

UAlbany plays at home on Sunday against UMBC (4:30 p.m.).
