The New York Yankees have not made a major move so far in this short Major League Baseball offseason.  They did acquire Josh Donaldson, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and Ben Rortvedt all from the Minnesota Twins.  All of the die hard Yankee fans wanted them to pursue players such as: Carlos Correa, Trevor Story, Freddie Freeman, etc.  They could still use another starting pitcher as Sean Manaea or Frankie Montas from the Oakland Athletics are currently still available.  It is always essential to have great starting pitching in order to make a deep postseason run.  Here is my quick take on this from the Times Union:

The Yankees have not spent the most money this off-season, but that does not mean that they won’t have a great season. The Tampa Bay Rays have made a habit of winning titles without the biggest payroll. In fact, they have one of the lowest payrolls in the American League, but they have done nothing but win in the last two seasons. It’s troublesome that the Yankees did not make a strong run at one of the top shortstops available, but General Manager Brian Cashman can only do so much. The final decision when it comes to spending money lies with Owner Hal Steinbrenner.

Michael Johnson Jr and I have been talking about this for a while but in case any of you Big Board Sports listeners missed the Twins Yankees trade when it broke, below is our quick discussion on it from last week.

I hope the Yankees make a big splash before opening day on April 7th.  I don't like them as the favorite in the AL East this season as it is a loaded division.  We shall see what happens in the coming weeks.
