The University of Albany Men's Basketball team has been on pause since Tuesday January 26th. Which means they can come resume basketball activities as soon as Thursday February 4th. in the interest of athlete safety that means this weekends games against U Mass Lowell will be pushed back to next weekend. If all these moving pieces are confusing and frustrating to me and you, can you imagine what the team must be going through. Head Coach Will Brown said the plan is to keep the players active.

The 2020 CAA University of Albany Great Danes Football season was one of many victims of the COVID-19 pandemic. In an attempt to salvage the season a plan to postpone play until Spring of 2021 was put into place. As you know just because you schedule something does not guarantee it'll happen especially while there's a worldwide pandemic taking place. So now that kickoff is less than 36 days away are we any closer to knowing for sure there will in fact be a season? The University of Albany Men's Basketball program received tough news today that they would be forced to go back on pause. A Tier One member of the program has tested positive for COVID-19. Tier One consists of coaches, players, managers and any staff that comes into direct contact with the team.

The Montreal Alouettes have signed University of Albany star defensive end/linebacker Eli Mencer. Mencer was a massive part of the Great Danes team that made it to the second round of the 2019 FCS playoffs. Mencer joins Albany Empire star wide receiver Malachi Jones on the Alouettes, making Montreal the most Albany team in the Canadian Football League.

Spring sports are scheduled to make their return to the Capital Region. The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Council of Presidents has approved the schedule for Spring sports. Soccer, volleyball, water polo, baseball, softball, and lacrosse all have competition scheduled to begin this March.

The Great Danes added 10 signees on Early Signing Day and even though it's a class full of Team Captains and impressive players there's only one New Yorker. Siena and UAlbany's basketball teams will not play against one another this year

In a year where we have to wait to see the UAlbany football team take the field until Spring, we got a special treat yesterday when a former Great Dane made his NFL debut. The New York York Giants activated Defensive Back Jarren Williams from the practice squad earlier this week for special teams against the Arizona Cardinals.
