Clunk. Clunk.Clank.Clunk. Those are the sounds that resonate the most from UAlbany's ugly 50-43 loss at the SPAC to Vermont on Saturday, the 2nd straight defeat for the Great Danes.

UAlbany shot a paltry 29.6% from the floor. Yet despite the horrendous shooting the Danes actually took a brief lead after trailing much of the game.Down 33-22 with just over 11 minutes left the Danes went on a run of their own, 17-5 in fact and briefly took a 39-38 lead. Mike Black capped the rally with a 3 pointer.

However that was it for the good moments. Vermont snapped right back and went on a run of their own and put the game away. 9 straight points from the Catamounts iced the contest as Vermont won their 4th straight.

Clancy Rugg, who hit 6 of 8 from the floor led all scorers with 14 points and for good measure he hauled down 10 rebounds.

Black led the Great Danes with 13 points. UAlbany's bench was no factor as the entire reserve squad added just 4 points.

The loss dropped the Great Danes, who briefly led the conference for a day 2 weeks ago, 1.5 games back of league leading Stony Brook and Vermont is now a game in front of the 3rd place Danes. Vermont swept both games from UAlbany this year.

Game 3 of this 4 game home stand is a HUGE game if Will Brown's club expects to fight for the league championship as Stony Brook comes in on Tuesday night.
