UAlbany Will Beat Notre Dame to Advance to Final Four

Here at 104.5 The Team, we are getting ready for UAlbany lacrosse on Saturday (3 PM, ESPN U).

The Great Danes take on No. 1 Notre Dame in the NCAA quarterfinal with a spot in the final four on the line. It's also a rematch of last year's NCAA quarterfinal that saw Notre Dame take down UA after being down five goals in the final quarter.

Well, Sam Benson of Bleacher Report, predicted this week that the Danes would avenge that loss. He has the Danes pegged for a 15-13 win. You can read his predictions here.

We spoke to Benson today and he said he thinks that the talent of UAlbany's midfield will be the difference in the game. He also thinks the play of Lyle Thompson will separate UAlbany, as will the experience that the Danes have in the tournament.

Furthermore, we asked Benson about two other local products that Capital Region fans care about, North Carolina's Luke Goldstock (Niskayuna) and Syracuse goalie Bobby Wardwell (Shen).

"Bobby Wardwell is one of the most underrated goalies in the nation," he said. And for good measure, he says he thinks Syracuse will win the national title.
